CRAB ORCHARD — Woodlawn and NCOE earned trips to the 1A Sweet 16 with wins in the Crab Orchard Sectional semifinals Monday night.
Woodlawn (27-4) dominated Goreville 25-11, 25-13 to earn a spot in the title match.
NCOE survived a three-set match with last year’s fourth place state finisher, Grayville. The Fighting Cardinals won the opening set 25-11, but the Bison bounced back to take the second 25-21. NCOE (34-2) scored six of the final eight points to take the third 25-22.
The Cardinals and Fighting Cardinals will battle Wednesday night at 6:00 for a sectional title and a date in Friday night’s Red Hill Supersectional.
