PINCKNEYVILLE — The Nashville Hornets will play in a football State Championship game for the first time in 21 years Friday afternoon, when they will take on Newman Central Catholic in DeKalb.

Both teams are 12-1, but they’ve used much different styles to get there.

The Comets are all about ball control and stifling defense. That defense has allowed only 26 points in four playoff games. The Hornets meanwhile are a high scoring bunch that has averaged 35 points a game in the postseason.

Kickoff will be at 1:00 Friday at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb on the Northern Illinois University campus.
