DU QUOIN — One of the top track and field athletes in Du Quoin history made her college choice official Friday.
Gabby Alongi signed with the University of Illinois.
Alongi holds school records for the 800, 1600, and 3200. She also ran the anchor legs for the school record 4×800 and 4×400 relays.
Alongi is a 7-time all-stater who finished second at the state meet in both the 400 and 800 last year, as well as anchoring the state champion 4×400 relay and second place 4×800 relay.
