HERRIN — For the first time in 15 years, Herrin will have a new head football coach, but he’s certainly not new to the Tigers’ sideline.
The school board has hired Rod Sherrill to replace Jason Karnes as the Tigers’ next head coach. Karnes stepped down after last season. The Tigers went 104-45 in Karnes’ 14 seasons, including 12 playoff appearances.
This will be Sherrill’s second tour as Herrin’s head coach. He led the Tigers from 1999-2001, with the team finishing 10-18 with one playoff appearance.
Sherrill has been an assistant on Karnes’ staff.
