CARTERVILLE — Schools across the nation, including many in our area, turned on the lights at their athletic fields Friday night at 8:20 (20:20 military time) to honor the Class of 2020, as well as healthcare workers, first responders, and essential workers.
This will continue each Friday for the next several weeks. It is being billed as “Be the Light” and “Lights for the Fight.”
The debut of the event came on the same day that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that in-person learning at schools would be suspended the rest of the year. This likely will result in the cancellation of spring sports and activities. The Illinois High School Association will make its final decision Tuesday and announce it following a Board of Directors meeting.
We asked you to send us pictures or video from the event at your schools, and you delivered!
Take a few minutes and enjoy.
