The Southern Illinois Coaches Association has named its cross country All-South teams and Coaches of the Year.
The All-South teams include 14 members divided equally between first and second teams. Du Quoin, Benton, and Hamilton County accounted for 11 of the 14 1A girls. Benton and Pinckneyville each had four representatives on the 1A boys teams. Carbondale, Mt. Vernon and Richland County (Olney) combined for 11 of the 14 2A girls. Marion’s boys team was the only one with five selections. Marion, Carbondale, and Richland County collected 11 of the 14 2A boys selections.
The Coaches of Year are Du Quoin’s Eric Kirkpatrick (1A girls), Benton’s Brent McLain (1A boys), Carbondale’s Greg Storm (2A girls), and Marion’s Eli Baker (2A boys).
