CARBONDALE — With his trademark white shirt and tie, Jim Miller has coached more than 600 games over the last 22 years for the Carbondale Terriers. Year 23 will be his final one leading the Terriers.
Miller isn’t quite sure what’s ahead, although he characterized the move as resigning rather than retiring. He’s not ruling out possibly coaching again down the road, but after 38 seasons of coaching, he says it’s time to try something new.
In 22 seasons at Carbondale, Miller’s teams have a 424-212 record. The Terriers have won ten regional championships and won two state trophies–second in 2005 and fourth the year before.
Earlier this week, Miller visited with Darren Kinnard to talk about his decision, why the timing is right including what role the pandemic played in his thought process. He also talks about how grateful he is for the support from his family, and how blessed he’s been by the quality of players he’s had through the years.
