PINCKNEYVILLE — There are many things about the high school basketball season this year that we normally don’t see. Saturday, Pinckneyville welcomed Cairo and Chester for a three-team round robin.
The Panthers defeated the Pilots 66-27 in the opener. Dre Scott led the way with 14 for Pinckneyville. Nile Adcock added 13 and Ben Restoff 10 for the Panthers. Isaiah Brown led Cairo with 12.
Chester held off Cairo 56-45 in game two. Yellow Jackets’ junior Jared Landeros led all scorers with 20. Matt Korando (11) and Jordan Hughes (10) also reached double figures for Chester. Brown and Alton Hervey each scored 17 for Cairo.
In the nightcap, Pinckneyville used a 23-3 outburst in the third quarter to beat Chester 53-37. Scott led all scorers with 20 points to go with five rebounds and five steals.
