MARION — The Marion Wildcats rallied from ten down in the fourth quarter to force overtime, then beat Murphysboro 63-62.

Hunter Simmons scored 11 of his team high 17 points for the Wildcats in the fourth quarter and overtime, including the eventual game winning bucket on a drive in the final minute of OT. Marion had four finish in double figures scoring with Trevor Jackson (16), Rayzhaun Bardo (11), and Jordan Cook (10) joining Simmons.

That balanced attack helped offset big games from the Murphysboro backcourt duo of Calvon Clemons and JaQuan Jackson. Clemons led all scores with 22. He was unable to connect on potential game winning shots at the end of regulation and overtime. Jackson finished with 18.

The Red Devils fall to 2-4, with those four losses coming by a combined eight points, including a pair of overtime setbacks. Murphysboro will travel to Benton Tuesday.

The Wildcats improve to 2-2. They will host Cairo Thursday night in a makeup of a postponed game from last week.
