FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Lady Mules, the third ranked team in our Volleyball Coaches’ Poll, improved to 11-1 on the season with a hard-fought 26-24, 25-20 win over Newton.
The Lady Eagles fall to 6-2 on the season.
Led by reigning Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week Emersyn Robbins, Fairfield rallied from a 20-13 deficit to take game one. Game two was back and forth before Fairfield took control down the stretch.
The Lady Mules will now compete in the loaded 21-team Crossroads Classic Friday and Saturday in Effingham. Fairfield will play Althoff and Naperville Central in pool play Friday night.
