MURPHYSBORO — Devon and Calvon Clemons combined for five touchdowns to lead Murphysboro to a 40-19 win over Massac County to open SIRR Ohio play.
The Patriots got off to a great start as TreShaun Bagby returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and Massac County had a 6-0 lead 15 seconds into the game.
The Red Devils finally started clicking later in the first. Calvon Clemons’ 10-yard touchdown tied the game at 6.
It remained 6-6 into the second. That’s when Devon Clemons took over. Clemons scored on TD runs of 5, 70, and 4 yards to give the Red Devils a 27-6 lead at the half. The 21 points ended up being the final margin of victory.
Murphysboro improves to 3-1 (1-0). The Red Devils will travel to Herrin next week. Massac County falls to 2-2 (0-1). The Patriots will be at home next week to take on Harrisburg.
