METROPOLIS — A big third quarter was the difference Carlisle County (KY) beat Carbondale 51-38 for third place at the City of Metropolis Tournament.

The Terriers trailed 24-20 at the half but managed only one field goal in the third quarter. The Comets outscored Carbondale 15-3, including an 11-1 run to close the quarter.

Carlisle County’s Kierra Whitaker led all scorers with 18 points. Karlie Gibson added 15 and Maddison Wright 10. Jessie Harper led Carbondale with 17. Both Whitaker and Harper were named to the all-tournament team.
