Pinckneyville rallies past Du Quoin to remain unbeaten

DU QUOIN — The Pinckneyville Panthers improved to 6-0 rallying to win their River to River–Mississippi opener at Perry County rival Du Quoin 71-63.

The Panthers trailed by 12 in the third quarter, but outscored the Indians 43-23 over the game’s final 11:22 for the win. Nile Adcock and Duke Riggins combined for 32 second half points to lead the Panthers. Adcock wound up leading all scorers with 24. Riggins finished with 19. Kellen Scott chipped in 13 for the Panthers.

Maurice Washington led Du Quoin (4-2, 0-1) with 22 points. Traijon Smith added 15.

The difference in the game came at the free throw line, where the Panthers were 25-32 while the Indians made only 7 of 18.
