Mascoutah wins Carterville Bowling Invitational

CARTERVILLE — A dozen teams and more than 60 girls bowlers competed in the Carterville Invitational at SI Bowl, which will also host upcoming boys and girls regionals.

After three games in the morning, the teams were split into Gold and Silver divisions and finished with three more games. Mascoutah had four individuals finish in the top 10 to cruise to the team title by 299 pins over Salem. Anna-Joneboro, O’Fallon, Carterville, and Waterloo finished out the Gold standings.

Carbondale edged Mt. Vernon by 151 pins to take the Silver division. Massac County, Steeleville, Trico, and Christ Our Rock Lutheran rounded out the standings.

Individually, O’Fallon’s Amber Montante was the champ with 1161 pins, with only 31 pins separating the top five. Anna-Jonesboro put two in the top five–Whitley Quick was second, while teammate Madi Hawk took fifth. Carbondale’s Taryn Russell was third with Salem’s Keelie Gass finishing fourth.

The boys bowling postseason will begin with regionals this Saturday, January 16. The girls regionals are set for February 5.
