Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Thursday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week. The poll is on the upper right-hand side of the page.

Abby Compton, Goreville: The sophomore was named MVP of the Lady Eagle Winter Classic after averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds over four games to lead the Lady Blackcats to the championship.

Alecia Doyle, Carterville: The senior was named MVP of the Carbondale Mid-Winter Classic after averaging 18 points and 7 rebounds over three games to lead the Lady Lions to the championship.

Roderick Gatewood Jr., Meridian: The junior was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Benton Invitational Tournament after averaging 19 points and 5 assists over five games.

Wyatt Hamson, Hamilton County: The junior was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Benton Invitational Tournament after averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks over five games to lead the Foxes to a share of the championship.

Elliot Lowndes, Cobden: The senior was named MVP of the Egyptian Mid-Winter Classic after averaging 32 points over three games to lead the Appleknockers to the championship.

Taj McKinney, Wayne City: The senior was named MVP of the MTC Tournament after averaging 23 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals over three games to lead the Indians to the championship. McKinney hit the go ahead basket and clinching free throws in double overtime of the championship game.

Brady Moore, Breese Central: The senior was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Nashville Invitational after averaging 19 points and shooting 68% from the field over three games to lead the Cougars to the championship.

Parker Price, Eldorado: The junior was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Arrowhead Classic in Johnston City after averaging 16 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds over four games to lead the Eagles to the championship.

Owen Treat, Vienna: The sophomore was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Superman Classic in Metropolis after averaging 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists over three games to lead the Eagles to the consolation championship.
