DU QUOIN — Du Quoin’s Caden Hutchens is the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week for February 14-19. The senior scored 28 points in a pair of games, including 17 in the regular season finale against Nashville.

Hutchens teamed with fellow senior Traijon Smith to make up part of a dangerous outside attack for the Indians surrounding 6-8 Maurice Washington inside. Hutchens made more than 80 three-pointers during the season.

The Indians’ season and Hutchens’ career came to an end with a loss in the regional semifinals to Pinckneyville. Even though he’s transitioned over to baseball now where he will be the Indians’ shortstop, Hutchens still thinks about basketball–a lot, even to the point of still watching game film.
