DU QUOIN — After dropping a heartbreaker in overtime in the season opener at East Alton/Wood River, the Harrisburg Bulldogs bounced back with a 25-14 win at Du Quoin.

Ross Rider led the Harrisburg attack with 193 yards rushing and a touchdown. Tevin Godsey added a 26-yard insurance touchdown run on 4th and 6 with a little more than five minutes to play, then sealed the Bulldogs’ victory with an interception in the end zone on Du Quoin’s next possession.

Before the game, Du Quoin honored its 1992 undefeated state championship team, and at halftime, retired the number 12 jersey of that team’s star quarterback Jason Karnes.

Both teams are 1-1 on the season. Harrisburg will host Paris Friday night at renovated Taylor Field, while Du Quoin will travel to Herrin.
