CARMI – Behind a record-setting night from senior running back Isaac King, the Carmi-White County Bulldogs remained undefeated, trouncing Eldorado 46-8 to set up a Black Diamond Conference title game with fellow unbeaten Johnston City next week.

King rushed for 227 yards, scored two touchdowns and added four 2-point conversions to lead the Bulldogs’ attack, and move past Logan Rogers to become the school’s all-time leading scorer with 314 points. According to Carmi stat guru Toby Brown, this marked King’s ninth career 200-plus yard game and his 17th straight game with 100 or more yards.

Early on, the Eagles recovered a muffed punt return near midfield and marched down to the 17 yard line, but the Bulldogs intercepted a Parker Price pass to stop the threat.

Carmi White County then proceeded to score on every possession the rest of the game, except for the end of the half and the end of the game. King scored his first TD with 3:58 left in the opening quarter on a 4-yard run. He later added a 6 yard TD run to close out the scoring late in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs led 8-0 after one quarter and extended that lead to 22-0 on TD runs from Draxtyn Aud and Andrew Dodgson.

The Eagles lone score came on a 77-yard run by Price with 6:29 left in the 1st half to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 22-8, but Carmi-White County answered with a 4-yard TD run by Aud less than three minutes later to take a 30-8 halftime lead.

Price led the Eagles with 113 yards rushing on 10 carries, but was just 5-9 for 20 yards through the air. Carmi White County outgained Eldorado 414 to 180 on the night, including 393 to 160 on the ground.

With the win, Carmi-White County improves to 7-0. The Bulldogs will visit 7-0 Johnston City next week in a matchup that will determine the Black Diamond Conference champion.

The Eagles fall to 2-5, seeing their slim playoff hopes disappear. Eldorado is at home for senior night next Friday hosting Christopher/Zeigler-Royalton.
