CHESTER — Nashville and Carterville have seen a lot of each other the past two seasons on the volleyball court. For the second straight year, the teams will meet for the fourth time in the postseason–this time in the championship match of the Chester 2A Regional.

The top seeded Hornettes took care of Du Quoin in the first semifinal 25-10, 25-17. After cruising in the opening game, Nashville trailed 6-3 early in the second game before ripping off 11 straight points. The Lady Indians stopped the run with three straight points, but then Nashville tallied 11 of the final 12 points for the win.

In second semi, Carterville downed Murphysboro 25-10, 26-24. After the Lady Lions rolled in the opener, Murphysboro appeared on the verge of tying the match and setting up a decisive third set. Carterville rallied from down 17-10, fighting off a game point, and scoring the final three points to complete the sweep.

Nashville won the first meeting between these two teams early in the season in the SIRR tournament. The Hornettes and Lady Lions split their two conference meetings, with each winning at home. The winner of the fourth meeting will earn a spot in next week’s Pinckneyville Sectional.

The Chester 2A Regional championship match will be at 6:00 Thursday.
