HARRISBURG — The top-seeded Crab Orchard Trojans used an 8-0 fourth quarter run to break a 40-40 tie and went to defeat second-seeded NCOE 58-48 to win the Greater Egyptian Conference Tournament title.
NCOE led 11-8 after one quarter, but on the strength of a 14-5 second quarter spurt, Crab Orchard led 29-22 at the half.
The Fighting Cardinals chipped away at the deficit closing within 40-38 after three quarters, then tying the game early in the fourth. The Trojans never relinquished the lead, outscoring NCOE 18-8 the rest of the way.
Crab Orchard senior Robby Rooker led all scorers with 20 points, with Cameron Clark adding 14 and Brinnen Norris 13. Preston Long and Joel Hortin led NCOE with 14 points apiece.
Earlier in the night, Gallatin County defeated Hardin County 54-41 for third place, and Thompsonville edged Pope County 60-57 in overtime for fifth place.
