METROPOLIS — It will be the Massac County Lady Patriots and the Carterville Lady Lions playing for a 2A regional championship Friday night in Metropolis.

The Lady Patriots fought off Vienna 67-53 in the first semifinal. Leading by five early in the fourth, Massac County closed the game on a 13-5 run. Sophie Bormann led the Lady Patriots with 26 points. Brooklyn Burnett added 23 and Elise Coakley 13.

Macie Dalton led the Lady Eagles with 13. Suhmer Daubert added four 3-pointers for 12. Daubert finished with 126 threes for the seasons, which ranks seventh on the IHSA single season records.

In the nightcap, Carterville broke open a close game by outscoring Hamilton County 25-8 in the second half, pulling away for the a 49-29 win.

Amayah Doyle led the Lady Lions with 20 points. Hillary Siemer added 12.

Tip time for Friday night’s regional championship will be 7:00. The winner will advance to the Du Quoin Sectional next week.
