JOHNSTON CITY — While the weather felt more conducive to a playoff football game, the Johnston City Lady Indians downed Eldorado 17-0 in five innings in the softball season opener for both teams.

Carsyn Clark went 3-3 with 4 RBIs to lead the Johnston City offensive attack, while pitcher Gabby Overturf allowed only one hit over four shutout innings in the circle.

The Lady Indians scored two courtesy Clark’s two-out, bases loaded bloop single in the bottom of the first. Clark drove in another run and scored during a 4-run third inning, helping Johnston City build a 6-0 lead.

Brooklyn Biggerstaff picked up Eldorado’s only hit of the game in the fourth inning, as the Lady Eagles loaded the bases, but they were unable to score.

The Lady Indians then broke the game wide open in the bottom of the fourth. Clark’s third run-scoring hit ignited an 11-run outburst.

Aubree Williford came on to pitch a 1-2-3 fifth inning for Johnston City to finish off the win.
