BENTON — Massac County junior Larkin Korte drove in four runs, and senior pitcher Chloe Dassing kept Benton’s bats silent for most of the day, helping the Lady Patriots down the Rangerettes 8-1.

With the win, Massac County finished 8-2 in SIRR Ohio play, securing second place behind conference champion Murphysboro. The Rangerettes finish 2-8 in conference play, in a 3-way tie for fourth with Harrisburg and Herrin.

The Lady Patriots scored two runs in the first, then added three more in the second. Jadynn Willard’s 2-run double made it 4-0 Massac County. Korte followed with an RBI single to score Willard.

Benton’s only run came in the fourth. Braelyn Miller tripled and scored on Malia Webb’s single.

Massac County improves to 9-10 overall. Benton falls to 11-12-1.
