Big 10 Bound–Konkel, Hargrove commit

A pair of area standouts took to social media Tuesday to announce their college commitments, and both will be headed to the Big 10.


Pinckneyville’s Karsen Konkel announced via Twitter that he was committing to play football for Bret Bielema and the Illinois Fighting Illini. The 6’6″ 225 pound tight end had more than a dozen offers, including Indiana and Michigan State also out of the Big 10, Virginia Tech from the ACC and Arkansas from the SEC.


Christopher’s Amiah Hargrove also announced her college choice via Twitter–she will be headed to Nebraska. Hargrove averaged 25 points and 9 rebounds a game as a junior helping lead the Lady Bearcats finish as the 1A State Runner-up with a 31-4 record. Hargrove was a first team All-State selection. She also had offers from Missouri, Creighton, Wichita State, and Grand Canyon among others.
