CARBONDALE — There doesn’t appear to be much Carterville senior Amayah Doyle can’t do.

An All-South selection in basketball the past three years, it’s softball where she excels. Doyle is the number one rated infielder in the nation for the class of 2024 and a top 10 recruit overall.

Now the University of Tennessee commit can add camp director to the resume.

Doyle recently held the inaugural 42 Academy All Skills Softball camp. There were two sessions, one for kids from first through fifth grades and a second for sixth grade and up. The camp was originally scheduled outside at John A. Logan, but it was rained out, so they moved it inside to the SIU Rec Center. The campers still were able to get plenty of instruction on all facets of the game.

Doyle has helped coach the Carterville junior high team the past few years, so teaching the game was not necessarily a new experience, but she says she wanted to make sure the camp was about more than softball.

Doyle says she plans to make the 42 Academy Camp a yearly event.
