COBDEN — Noah and Tyler Franklin have had some epic battles through the years in their home driveway.
That competitiveness translated to success on the court, as the brothers finished 1-2 on Cobden’s all-time scoring list, one of only a select few brother combos in IHSA history to each reach 2000 points. It’s an even more impressive feat considering they missed out on at least 10 games in the Covid-shortened season in 2021.
After that 2021 season, Noah and his 2015 points graduated and headed off to Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Missouri, leaving the Appleknockers in Tyler’s hands. It was something the younger Franklin ran with, eventually finishing his career with exactly 2000 points.
When it came time for Tyler to pick a college, an offer came from Southwest Baptist. He says the chance to rejoin forces with his brother was too good to pass up.
Noah and Tyler agree that the chemistry on the court as brothers is a major plus, but what happens if they get matched up in practice?
It’ll be just like those days in the driveway, minus the fists.
Maybe.
