Sesser — Homecoming Night for Sesser/Valier-Waltonville was terrorizing for the Eldorado Eagles as the Red Devils ran their way to a 46-6 win in a game that was sped along in the 2nd half by the “mercy clock.”
Eldorado took the opening kickoff and marched down to the SVW 14 yard line before running back Jake Phelps coughed up the football. Just 2 minutes later, the Red Devils scored on a 21 yard scamper by Dezmond Malone, his first of 3 TDs on the night.
After a 2 yard TD run by Malone put SVW up 16-0, they scored again with 5:46 left in the 1st half on a 70 yard scramble by quarterback Colt Packer. Sesser got the ball back after blocking an Eldorado punt. A 37 yard run by Malone on the next play, and a successful two point conversion try put SVW up 32-0. Eldorado was stopped on 3rd down and forced to punt again. This time, Malone, who also returns punts, had the ball deflect off his chest and recovered by Maddex Rash of Eldorado. The Eagles threw an incomplete pass at the goal line on 4th down to turn the ball back over to the Red Devils with just 15 seconds left from their own 32 yard line. After a 7 yard run, Packer hooked up with wide receiver Wyatt Loucks for a 61 yard prayer to give SVW a 40-0 lead into half.
None of the SVW starters played in the 2nd half, with a continuous clock, they scored again with 3:43 left in the 3rd on a 17 yard run by Jace Erwin.
Eldorado got their lone points on a 1 yard run by Phelps at the start of the 4th quarter. That score was setup by the longest run of the night for the Eagles, a 47 yard run by Kaiden Henson.
Malone led the Red Devils with his 3 TDS on 8 carries and 144 yards. Packer had 3 carries for 93 yards and a score and was 3 for 3 in the air for 100 yards. SVW outgained Eldorado 429-159 in offense.
SVW, now 7-0, will head to Johnston City next week in a battle of undefeated teams that will determine the Black Diamond Conference title. Eldorado will host Carmi White County on senior night. The Eagles with their 6th straight defeat are now 1-6.
