Congratulations to the MVTHS Bowlers–they are this week’s Josh Finley Country Financial Rams of the Week from WMIX Sports! Both teams claimed South Seven Conference Championships on Thursday, January 16, at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon, Ill.

The Rams (5335) beat out the runner-up Centralia Orphans by over 400 pins while the Lady Rams (3912) outpaced Marion by nearly 300 pins. Brody Elliott placed second overall for the Rams (1118) with Travin Elliott finishing third (1095). Jayda Vanmatre (874) also placed second for the Lady Rams. Briley Dent (843) finished third with Aly Stutts (816) taking third.

Jayda Vanmatre was the top Lady Rams bowler and finished second overall with a score of 874. Briley Dent was third with 843 pins. Aly Stutts recorded a fifth-place finish with 816 pins.

Brody Elliott led Mount Vernon’s boys squad with a 1,118 and finished second overall. Travin Elliott followed in third with a 1,095.

The Rams followed up the South Seven Crown with a runner-up performance at the Salem Regional on Saturday, January 18. Brody Elliott was the REGIONAL CHAMP rolling at 1376 beating out Travin Elliott by just 60 points for the team high. The Rams advanced to the Collinsville Sectional

The Lady Rams head to Herrin Bowl for the regional on Friday, Feb. 7 with hopes of advancing to the Mt. Vernon Sectional at Nu Bowl Lanes on Saturday, Feb. 15. The State Finals are at Rockford’s Cherry Bowl Lanes.
