WMIX Sports Rams of the Week: Mt. Vernon Wrestlers Clark, Davis, Jones, Musgrave, White – February 14, 2025

Congratulations to Rams and Lady Rams Wrestlers on their recent regional success! Jack Clark, Lilly Davis, Deziare Jones, Daniya Musgrave, and Dillon White share this week’s Josh Finley Country Financial Ram of the Week Award from WMIX Sports!

Lilly Davis was your REGIONAL CHAMPION in the 100 pound weight class at the Mt. Zion Regional on Feb. 1, while Daniya Musgrave finished runner up at 140, and Deziare Jones finished in fourth place at 120. All three qualified for the Highland Sectional this weekend! Davis dominated her bracket, earning a bye in the quarterfinals before pinning Mattoon’s Sophia Munday in just 58 seconds in the semifinals. She then claimed the championship with a quick 38-second pin over PORTA’s Ariel Sipes. Musgrave started strong, pinning Decatur (Eisenhower)’s Arrayah Yellowhair in 2:26 in the quarterfinals and Salem’s Alana Finney in 3:57 in the semifinals. However, she fell in the championship match, getting pinned by Tolono (Unity)’s Lillien Roughton in just 37 seconds. Jones opened with an impressive 13-second pin over Decatur (Eisenhower)’s Danielle Porter in the quarterfinals but was pinned by Springfield’s Madison Bradley in the semifinals. She rebounded in the consolation semifinals with a 52-second pin over Salem’s Shea McGree before finishing fourth after a pinfall loss to Charleston’s Morgan Krone-Smallhorn in 52 seconds.

At the Waterloo Regional on February 8, both Jack Clark and Dillon White secured championships and qualified for the Lincoln Sectional this weekend. Competing at 113 pounds, Clark earned a quarterfinal bye before pinning East St. Louis’s Ethan Clark in 4:41 in the semifinals. He then claimed the title with a 2:48 pin over Marion’s Ridgdon Meacham. At 144 pounds, White dominated his bracket, pinning Cahokia’s Mark Norris in just 1:10 in the quarterfinals and Waterloo’s Jax Mifflin in 1:09 in the semifinals. He secured the championship after Marion’s Nate Page was forced to withdraw due to a medical forfeit.

Following their regional success, Dillon White (Senior) remained undefeated at 37-0, while Jack Clark (Sophomore) improved to 31-13. Lilly Davis (Sophomore) advanced to 14-7, Deziare Jones (Junior) moved to 14-8, and Daniya Musgrave (Freshman) improved to 18-10. All records provided by TrackWrestling.com. Congratulations!!!
