DU QUOIN — The Massac County Patriots remained unbeaten at the Du Quoin Tip-Off Classic and on the season with a 67-51 win over Cairo in the opening session of the final day.
The Patriots led by six late in the third, but JJ Sweatt found Kaleb Ramer for a bucket to beat the buzzer, giving Massac County a 51-43 lead. The Patriots then extended that lead to double digits early in the fourth and cruised to the win.
Massac County’s Jase Mizell led all scorers with 26. Terrell Jones led Cairo with 19.
The Pilots will close the tournament against Red Bud at 4:00 in the final session. The Patriots will try to clinch the championship against the host Indians in the final game of the day.
