Eldorado edges Fairfield to advance to championship game


ELDORADO — Eldorado will be playing for the Lady Eagle Winter Classic championship after beating Fairfield 48-45 Thursday night.

Eldorado trailed 43-39 after three, but managed to take the lead despite making only one field goal in the fourth quarter. Fairfield only made one as well, but the Lady Eagles’ seven fourth quarter free throws were the difference.

Paige Munds, who reached 1000 points for her career early in the first quarter, led Eldorado with 19. Lexie Mitchell added 15.

Fairfield’s Leah Bowers led all scorers with 23.

Eldorado will tangle with Harrisburg Saturday afternoon at 4:30 for the title. Fairfield will face Mt. Carmel for third place at 3:00. In the other trophy games, Goreville will meet Carmi-White County for fifth, and it will be Vienna and Gallatin County for seventh.
