HARRISBURG — This week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois MVT–Most Valuable Teacher Award goes to Mrs. Nicole Stewart, a fourth grade teacher at East Side Intermediate School in Harrisburg.
Stewart said Monday was a great day–not because we named her MVT, but because her kids were back in class for the first time in a couple of weeks.
In addition to her teaching duties, Stewart has been instrumental in helping other teachers figure out the best way to use the technology and programs available to help their students.
“Mrs. Stewart pushes her students and colleagues to engage in challenging but fun lessons,” said Natalie Fry. “She always has a smile on her face that exudes awesomeness which makes her approachable and fun to be around. She is a role model for her students but also for new/veteran teachers. As her former principal I know how important she is to our district, to our students and to our staff. She is a rockstar teacher and super deserving of this award!”
