PINCKNEYVILLE — In a time filled with uncertainty, Pinckneyville senior Megan Engelhardt knew exactly where she wanted to go to college.

Friday, Engelhardt signed to play softball at Lyon College, an NAIA school located in Batesville, Arkansas.

“My main concern was if I felt comfortable at the school, and this is a school that I very much feel comfortable at,” Engelhardt said. “The environment is just amazing, and I love it there.”

Engelhardt is a standout third baseman who has a career .306 batting average. She received the offer back in October, despite losing the spring season due to the pandemic.

“Megan is an outstanding defensive player and is tremendous at drawing walks/and working at-bats,” Pinckneyville head softball coach Alan Engelhardt said. “She exemplified last year’s team philosophy of getting on base however possible. She has worked on her strength and athleticism and her power numbers will definitely go up the next time we are able to get onto the diamond. Lyon College is getting an outstanding student, person, and softball player. I am excited to see what her future holds.”

Megan plans to major in Political Science.
