JOHNSTON CITY — The Johnston City Indians improved to 4-0 with a 42-6 win over Carmi-White County Saturday night, in a game that was postponed from Friday night due to weather.

The turning point in this one may have come on the very first drive. The Bulldogs were marching deep in Indian territory, but a fumble derailed the drive. The very first play after recovering the fumble, Johnston City quarterback Austin Brown scampered 83 yards for a touchdown.

In the second quarter, Brown converted a fourth and long with a completion to Jordan Wininger to set up Isiah Watson’s five yard touchdown run. Brown ran in the two-point conversion for a 14-0 lead.

Later in the second, Brown and Wininger hooked up again, this time for a 34-yard touchdown to give the Indians a 20-0 lead.

The Bulldogs got on the board with a touchdown in the third to cut it to 20-6, but Johnston City pulled away, outscoring Carmi-White County 22-0 in the fourth quarter.

The Indians will visit 3-1 CZR Friday night. The Bulldogs will go in search of their first win Saturday afternoon against Chester.
