Thanks to a perfect week, including the championship of the loaded SIRR Preview Tournament Saturday, the Nashville Hornettes have solidified their hold on the top spot in this week’s Section618.com Deep South Volleyball Coaches’ Poll. The Carterville Lions jumped four spots to number two after the runner up finish to Nashville at the SIRR Tourney.
Fairfield opened the season by winning its own tournament. The Lady Mules remain number three. Centralia received the other two first place votes. The Annies have only played one match so far, beating then number four Pinckneyville. The Lady Panthers drop a spot to fifth. Their three losses have come to teams above them in the poll (Centralia, Carterville, and Nashville).
NCOE moves up four spots to sixth after finishing second at the Fairfield Tourney. Du Quoin is up one spot to seventh. Massac County debuts in the poll at eight. Woodlawn and Hamilton County wrap up the top 10 with five other teams receiving at least one vote.
