Ahry Comer, Pope County: The sophomore won the Carterville 1A Cross Country Regional individual championship with a time of 17:08, winning by 59 seconds. Comer advances to the Wesclin Sectional this Saturday.
Gavin Genisio, Benton: The sophomore won the Benton 1A Cross Country Regional individual championship with a time of 14:05, which broke the course record by 20 seconds. Genisio advances to the Wesclin Sectional this Saturday.
Keegan Glover, Benton: The senior quarterback completed 14-17 passing for 293 yards and 6 touchdowns in the first half of the Rangers’ 42-14 win at Anna-Jonesboro to complete a perfect regular season. Glover added 25 yards rushing.
Corbin Hickey, Johnston City: The senior wide receiver had 4 catches for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Indians’ 66-8 win over CZR to complete an unbeaten season in Black Diamond Conference play.
Isaac King, Carmi-White County: The junior running back rushed 42 times for 240 yards, scoring 5 touchdowns and adding 5 two-point conversions to account for all 40 points in the Bulldogs’ playoff-clinching 40-25 win at Flora.
David Lee, Du Quoin: The senior quarterback shook off a leg injury to complete 7-14 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns to go with 18 rushes for 64 yards and 2 more touchdowns in the Indians’ playoff-clinching 28-14 win over Murphysboro.
Bella Mavigliano, Carterville: The senior tallied 51 kills, 49 digs, and 54 assists to help the Lions to a 6-0 week, including the championship of the loaded Fairfield Invitational, where she was named tourney MVP.
Venson Newsom, Marion: The senior wide receiver had 7 catches for 178 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 59-8 win over Mattoon. Newsom set 3 school career records Friday: receptions (104), receiving yards (1992), and touchdowns (27).
Karli Mann, Herrin: The sophomore tallied 126 kills and 64 digs in 8 matches, helping the Tigers finish 6-2 for the week.
