Orphans snap skid with win at Althoff

BELLEVILLE — The Centralia Orphans racked up more than 500 yards of offense to pick up their first South 7 win Friday night at Althoff, 44-28. The Orphans improve to 3-2 (1-1) on the season.

Sophomore running back Elijah Johnson led the way for Centralia with 125 yards rushing and scoring two touchdowns. Quarterback Carson Green had an efficient night throwing for 187 yards and 2 scores, while rushing for a 37-yard TD as well. Davin Tabor chipped in with 5 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Leading 30-28 after three quarters, the Centralia defense did its part as well in the victory as the Orphans shut out Althoff in the fourth quarter while tacking on two insurance TDs.

Centralia will host Cahokia Friday night at Evers Field for Homecoming.
