Flora picks up critical road win at Hamilton County

MCLEANSBORO — The Flora Wolves snapped a two-game losing streak and improved their prospects for earning a playoff spot with a 28-14 win at Hamilton County.

Flora led 14-8 at the half and extended the lead to a two-score cushion in the third on Jace Helm’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Tolliver.

Brady Thrane returned the ensuing kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown pulling the Foxes back within 21-14.

The Wolves added an insurance score on a Helm to Cole Young TD pass with 4:39 to go.

Flora improves to 4-2 and will become playoff eligible with the forfeit win from Vienna/Goreville next week. Hamilton County falls to 2-4. The Foxes will host Fairfield next Saturday.
