VIENNA — Vienna’s Ayva Rush is the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week for December 6-11.

The Lady Eagles’ freshman has made quite an impact right away. Rush averaged 22 points, three rebounds and four steals in three games to help Vienna win the City of Metropolis Tournament last month.

Playing high school varsity was not the only transition Rush has had to make. She’s had to adjust to the playing styles of several girls she had never played with as teammates.

Vienna head coach Rick Metcalf says Rush’s ability to move without the ball in addition to her shooting touch makes her tough to guard. Rush is quick to credit others.
