HARRISBURG — Harrisburg’s Kerrigan Payne is the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week for March 14-19.

The senior went 8-11 with three doubles, a home run and eight RBIs at the plate. Payne was 3-0 pitching as well, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits in 16 innings of work while striking out 16.

Payne is a four-year starter for the Lady Bulldogs. Now as a senior, she’s surrounded by younger players, many freshmen and sophomores. It’s a group that has gelled quickly and currently sits 13-2.

Payne signed with Three Rivers Community College back in November. She says having her college choice locked in is a relief and can now just let it rip this spring.
