Voting is now open and will run through noon Friday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.
Here are the nominees:
Jaxon Dalby, Webber: The sophomore was the medalist at the West Frankfort Redbird Invitational with a time of 16:03 and then ran a 16:28 to finish 31st out of 642 runners at the First to the Finish in Peoria.
Payton Denny, Anna-Jonesboro: The junior threw for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 41-20 win over Massac County.
Gavin Genisio, Benton: The junior was the medalist at the Forest Park XC Festival (Gold Division) with a time of 16:12. There were 152 runners in the division.
Isaac King, Carmi-White Co.: The senior rushed 21 times for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns, returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown, and ran in a pair of 2-point conversions in the Bulldogs’ 44-12 win over Sesser-Valier/Waltonville.
Ross Rider, Harrisburg: The senior rushed 27 times for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 35-7 win over Paris.
Emersyn Robbins, Fairfield: The junior had 71 kills, 7 blocks, 11 aces, and 33 digs in 6 matches last week. Robbins was named to the All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Lady Mules to the Bronze Division championship at the Crossroads Classic in Effingham.
Briar Rowland, CZR: The junior rushed 17 times for 237 yards and 3 touchdowns and had 3 receptions for 37 yards in the Bearcats’ 54-34 win over Vienna/Goreville.
Bryce Smith, Carterville: The senior rushed 25 times for 224 yards and a touchdown in the Lions’ 49-28 win over Murphysboro.
Wyatt Upton, Benton: The senior rushed 13 times for 101 yards and 4 touchdowns and had 4 receptions for 83 yards in the Rangers’ 42-0 win over Pinckneyville.
Reese Varel, Nashville: The senior had 47 kills, 11 blocks, 7 aces, and 45 digs to help the Hornettes to a 7-0 record, including the championship at the Rangerette Classic in Benton, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
