Voting is now open and will run through midnight Saturday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.
Here are the nominees for the week of May 8-13:
Emma Behrmann, Nashville: The freshman won the long jump (16’6″) at the Chester 1A Track and Field Sectional. She also finished 2nd in the triple jump, and ran legs in the Hornettes’ 4×100 winning relay as well as 4×200 runner up relay.
Ahry Comer, Pope County: The junior won the 400 (58.01), the 800 (2:18.48), the 1600 (5:36.20), and the 3200 (11:52.31) at the Du Quoin 1A Track and Field Sectional.
Keaton Fort, Johnston City: The junior was 6-11 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 10 RBIs at the plate, and on the mound was 2-0 with a save in 3 appearances. Fort pitched 7 innings and did not allow a run or a hit.
Kaylen Grammer, Carbondale: The senior went 3-0 in the circle, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits over 19 innings, while striking out 50. Grammer had no hitters against both Meridian and Du Quoin.
Emmie Gurley, Vienna: The freshman won the 100 (12.50) and the 200 (26.05) at the Du Quoin 1A Track and Field Sectional. Gurley also ran the anchor legs for the Lady Eagles’ 4×100 winning relay and 4×200 runner up relay.
Jacob Kinsman, Benton: The senior was 10-15 with 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs, 4 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases. Kinsman also picked up a win on the mound allowing a run on 4 hits while striking out 4 over 4 innings.
Kamaree Pollard, Mt. Vernon: The sophomore won the 100 (12.69) and ran the anchor legs for the Lady Rams’ 4×100 and 4×200 winning relays at the Mascoutah 2A Track and Field Sectional. Pollard also finished 4th and qualified for state in the triple jump (35’6.75″)
