Eldorado — The Fairfield Mules picked up their first Black Diamond Conference win of the season with lots of firepower, defeating the Eldorado Eagles 32-18 Friday night at Boz Adams Field in Eldorado.

Fairfield scored on their opening drive, after controlling the ball for over 6 minutes.  The first pass of the game was an 11 yard soft touchdown lob from the Mules Freshman quarterback Jaylen Mayners to Landon Harrelson.  The successful two point conversion made the score 8-0.  Fairfield’s two point conversion success (4 for 4 for 8 points) and Eldorado’s struggles (0 for 3) made a huge difference in the game.  Eldorado continues to be shutout on conversion attempts, now 0 for 5 this season.
Down 16-0, the Eagles got on the board with 2:40 left in the opening half on a 2 yard run by Maddex Rash.  But Fairfield marched down the field and scored on a 4 yard run by Latrael Snyder who had 2 TDs.  The score was setup after a 43 yard pass from Mayners to Trey Mason.  Fairfield held a 24-6 lead at half.
Eldorado cut the score to 24-12 after a 2 yard run by Jake Phelps with 2:50 left in the 3rd.  But again, Fairfield answered with a 48 yard TD pass from Mayners to Mason.  Mayners was 3 for 3 for 102 yards and 2 TDs on the night.
Eldorado scored on a 16 yard pass from Coltin Patrick to Ryne Cox with 5:43 to play to cut the score to 32-18.  Patrick was 4 for 8 for 52 yards in the air and led the Eagles on the ground with 61 yards on 12 carries.
The Eagles fall to 1-1.  Fairfield improves to 1-1 and 1-0 in the Black Diamond.  Eldorado hits the road to Johnston City Friday night.  Fairfield welcomes in Sesser-Valier-Waltonville.
