Congratulations to Mt. Vernon Lady Rams Basketball! This week’s Josh Finley/Country Financial Rams of the Week from WMIX Sports are THREE-PEAT winners of the Benton Rangerette Christmas Classic over the holidays. The Lady Rams handled Du Quoin 52-17 to open the tournament followed up by another big win over Triad, 56-30. The Lady Rams played with heavy hearts in the semifinal and championship after learning of the passing of their longtime manager, Bryan Reynolds. The Lady Rams played #FORBRYAN and beat Mt. Zion 64-47 before winning the ‘ship over state-ranked Civic Memorial 58-54. Mae Mae (Melaina Zedalis), Kamaree Pollard, and T (Tiara Johnson) made the all-tournament team. Jeff Lonnon is the head coach of the Lady Rams and is assisted by Matthew Pool, Jami Williams, and Justice Malone (assisting on winter break). The roster includes: Pollard, Arwyn Wilkey, Zedalis, Autumn Rudd, Jerica Newell, Addie Tinsley, Josie Shirley, Maelee Allen, Paige Powers, Johnson, Julia Jee, Morgan Payne, Hannah Bancroft, and Kylie Poole.
