Congratulations to Dillon White (he’s baaaaaaaaaaaack!) and Lily Davis. They are this week’s Josh Finley Country Financial Rams of the Week from WMIX Sports! Dillon earned the Most Oustanding Wrestler honor at the 63rd Annual Murdale Wrestling Tournament at Carbondale while claiming the ‘ship at 144 lbs. Also at Murdale, Lily took the 100 pound title in the women’s division (Jan. 4).
White’s path to the title started with an opening round bye before pinning Carterville’s Nick Bisching in 1:27. In the Pool A finals, Dillon pinned Johnston City’s Benjamin Harris in 2:35. In the championship bracket, it only took White 27 seconds to pin Marion’s Nate Page in the semifinals. Dillon would pin his way to the championship in 1:51 over Murphysboro’s Bryce Edwards. The Ram Senior, who remains undefeated, was then chosen as THE Outstanding Wrestler for his efforts.
Lily Davis pinned Red Bud’s Arianna Thomas in 1:30 and then shaved 13 seconds off in the semifinals whenever she pinned McCracken County’s Jillian Conn in 1:17. In the Championship Davis defeated another McCracken County Mustang when she defeated Emmery Evans by 13-4 major decision. Davis, a sophomore, is 7-3 on the year according to Track Wrestling.
